Knitting Update

I figured I owed you some knitting pictures since you looked at my family pics for so many days..and thank you for all your kind comments about them! I like my sisters and my mom...I guess I'll keep em. :)

Here's the latest Polka Purl Dots Picture, taken on my couch side table** by lamplight:

Is that all I've done? Yep.
Click to see a close up of a polka dot.

I adjusted the color on the close up pic a little to try and give you a better feel for the hot pinkness that is PPD. This Svale yarn is so soft and lovely, and even though I'm still moving at a snail's pace, I'm loving this pattern. It's interesting enough to be fun and easy enough to do while watching Law and Order SVU. What a great combination! I have two more sets of 14 rows before I'm done with my waist shaping. That'll be done in...oh, three years? Just kidding. Hopefully in a week or so. If I knit every night.

I have something else fun to show you...I got something absolutely adorable in the mail from a Brainy Lady...

What a fun mail surprise!

If you can't read the words, it says "May Happiness Fill Every Day" right above the dog wrapped in yarn, and then up the side it says, "Wooldog Diary". Umm, how CUTE is that?!?!? And how thoughtful of Alison to think of me...I also got two adorable buttons, which made a happy girl. Yay for happy mail surprises. And wooldog diaries. Thanks Alison!

Okay. here's my workout update or, what I've done this week.
Monday: strength training and cardio.
Tuesday: Cardio, in which I discovered that "I've Got That Boom Boom" by Britney Spears and "Double Dutch Bus" by some funky old R and B band both have great beats for jumping rope. (or is it jump roping?)
Wednesday: Umm. I'm tired. My arms hurt. Do I have to keep working out?
Thursday: TBA, when I get up tomorrow. My goal is to actually go to the gym, and do leg stuff and cardio, but 5:45 comes really early and my poor little body is hating me right now. Everyone's saying, work through it, it's only bad the first week, but ew. I felt better when I was an inactive slob.

I know, wrong attitude. But I'm working on it. Gimme a second to think positively.

Okay. GOOOOO EXERCISING! YAY!!!!!! (spirit fingers!!!!!!)

I'll see ya after the first cup of coffee tomorrow.

**Do you see the Ross Dress For Less Price Tag on the table behind the knitting? Dude, do you have Ross in your town? Go there. That place has great deals.

Spirit fingers!! Ha, that made me chuckle aloud!

Keep on keepin on with the PPD and the exercise. Bully for you!

You're making mad progress on PPD, even though it might not feel like it! We're joining a gym this weekend, so I'll be joining you next week in the "former inactive slob getting their butt kicked" department. :-)

your couch side table looks a little like mine -- i always have price tags and knitting thrown every which way. there's no ross in nyc, but enough cheap shopping to go around.
i agree with the other commenters that you shouldn't beat yourself up for missing a day at the gym. no one (sane or employed, at least) can go every single day, so don't set yourself up for disappointment.
love the polka dots!

Hi, Carrie!

I have a stomach question for you, and I was wondering if you could send me your e-mail so everybody on the blog doesn't have to hear about it! I'm an IBS sufferer and wondered if you had any survival tips for fellow GI-troubled folks.

Yeah, and I'm a novice knitter.

Hi, Carrie! I've been enjoying your knitting for some time! Hopefully, I don't sound too goofy commenting, but you have a very pretty smile!

hey! I came across your site from doing a google search for knitting in athens (I live here too - AND I work for UGA!)...b/c I just started knitting myself and need serious reinforcement/support. Working on my first piece (A scarf, what else?) and eventually I need to figure out how to add more yarn...I saw there's a knitting "meet-up" here aug. 18. Is that legit and do you know anything about it?
Great site and fab work! MJ

Polka dots is coming along nicely :)
I am SOO prous of you for ye olde exercise. Do you think your good fitness will rub off on me? I ate an entire box of pralines that I bought on my trip to bring back for my lab...oops, I did it again...speaking of Britney Spears. Have a great day.
PS I am going for a swim on Saturday at Legion pool for my summer workout. I promise at least a whole 20 minutes of swimming, or at least being in the pool, if youse guys wanna come.

You are polka dotting right along! Excellent..
I love Ross! I decorated one of my rooms from ross...I love their stuff...sometimes its good and sometimes not, but I always find something!

work it girl!

Spirit fingers!! That will never fail to crack me up.

PPD is looking awesome.

The wooldog diary is perfect. How adorable!

P.S. The pic of Scout & the champagne is my personal favorite. Glad you like it!

I hope I'm not a bad influence by saying this, but isn't it better to go to the gym two or three times a week than not at all? There's something to be said for the middle ground between almost every day and never, especially at this point where you're transitioning into working out more.

I probably am a bad influence, though, since I cancelled my membership to the UT gym months ago. The young girls who don't have anything better to do but work out three hours a day factor was part of it--it's depressing being surrounded by Britney Spears-looking 19-year-olds doing those upside-down hanging situp things. I was feeling like the negligible physical improvements were outweighed by the toll on my psyche. Also, we have to pay a lot more for our memberships than y'all do at UGA.

I think you deserve a big gold star for all the work you're already doing in the exercise department. And for braving the hordes of skinny teenagers. And still finding time to knit.

I was wondering what was up with polka dots. What you got there is looking great. Keep up the excellent work.

P.S. Alison picked the perfect present! that notebook is so you :-)

Whoops forgot the 'love' between 'also' and 'buffalo' but you know what I mean....

Cute pink knitting!! I absolutely loved the Ross Dress for Less in San Francisco and Emeryville when I used to live there. I also Buffalo Exchange (which may only exist in the bay area) - every time I visit the bay (from Japan that is) I take clothes and sell them there. Last time I made $60 - woohoo!
