Knittin' Night
Well, we had another fun-filled knitting group last night. We met at our new favorite place - Hot Corner Coffee - and sat outside on the sidewalk, which was ideal for fresh air, people watching, and tiny schmoos who came to knitting group. L'il Frankie was hyper for about five minutes and then she decided to relax:

what a good little schmoo. (Frankie, not Leslie)
We had another new member join us for the first time. This is Mary Jessica:

Hi, Mary Jessica!
Mary Jessica (blog found here) is cool for a number of reasons, but here are some cool things she does (besides knitting!) :
1. She is an artist. She writes a comic!
2. She does trapeze and fabrics here.
3. Last night at knitting group, she learned how to purl, do seed stitch (accidentally) and do ribbing (on purpose). Hooray! Welcome to Mary Jessica.
Anne Marie and I were working on Ultimate Top Secret And Dangerous Knitting Projects last night. I guess I'll show them to you anyways.
![]() Shh! It's a secret! | ![]() Nothing to see here...just top secret knitting.... |
Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit dramatic about the secrets. But I am knitting a gift for a faraway friend, and Anne Marie and I are working together on a gift for a nearby friend. They are both very worthy recipients indeed! More on that when the gifts have been dispersed.
I tried to take a close up of my project with my new macro lenses for my camera and if you want to see the result, click
here. This yarn, Paton's Katrina, is stretchy and has a little sheen to it, and the knitted fabric is lovely. I'm so excited! It was also on sale at Hobby Lobby, so hooray for affordable yarn.
I gotta go work now.

P.S. Y'all got great hair. Who are your stylists, eh?
P.P.S. Notice how I wrote "y'all"? That's for you :-)

What a CUTE and FUN bunch! I love how you describe each person; gives us an insight on other things they do, as well. You continue to show us that knitter folk are multi-talented folk!

Becky

Yes, what a pretty swatch of Katrina! I'm a big fan of the subtly shimmery/shiny yarn. Your knitting group looks like it's such fun - your pictures really capture so much energy!

I'm so jealous of your Stitch n' Bitch group! I don't have one single friend who knits. Any suggestions for how to start a group? Or find one? I'm in Iowa City, Iowa. It's a cool trendy college town and even though I'm no longer a cool trendy college kid, I can fake it! Where o where are my knitting pals?

everyone loves a good mystery/surprise..
Looks like you guys had a blast...
hooray for teeny schmoos (I want one!) and affordable yarn!!

Hey Carrie! I can't wait to see the mystery project take shape. You should join the Carla-along. After getting my Rowan Cotton Tape I realized just how many cheaper substitutions are out there right now [ think shoelaces basically ].
Carla is really fun to make!

Frankie is just too cute for words. Do y'all know what songs you're singing for the AI auditions? I was thinking about that today b/c I listened to Elton John's greatest hits and was recalling how butchered they were.

I think getting together with knit buddies is so much fun. It gives us the incentive to knit more..and eat more..and drink more! ;-)

Hey dudes!! I had so much ridiculous fun last night and can't wait to do it again. I've been working on my scarf periodically today (at work, where else?) and it's coming along smoothly!
Thanks for helping me so much too!!! MJ

Oh- and you better tell that Leslie to keep an eye on that dog or else he is going on a roadtrip to Boston!!
Welcome to Mary Jessica also- going to check out her blog as soon as I finish doing this stupid work stuff!
