Clever Title
Thanks for all the condolences about the boob holder. I already re-started and am almost up to (down to) the armpits of Boobholder V 2.0. Here is my desk chair modeling it for you:

Really, I'm working hard. I am.
I'm getting really excited about it. Now that I know where I went wrong before (that would be completely not paying attention to how many rows I'd knitted, and not trying it on!!) , I am ready to do it right this time around. And I'm almost to the point where I can join the body stitches. Yahoo!
At lunch today Anne Marie decided that she wanted to sit at Hot Corner and knit for a spell. She invited me along, and Joanna and Leslie came too, and look here! It was an impromptu lunchtime KIP!

Don't we look excited?
Leslie is working on the fabulous orange dog smoking jacket for Ms. Frankie Tiny Pants Schmoo-McGee. JoAnna, who is returning to knitting after a brief hiatus, is working on a lovely white dishcloth (and her stitches are, like, majorly even and pretty. I'm so impressed.)
And Anne Marie is making a London Beanie, with a smashing pink and gray color combo. Apparently she is worried about fit, but I think it's going to work out. (Click on all the links to see the girls in action. Oh dear. With phrases like "boobholder" and "girls in action", I may get some strange search requests on for my blog today.)
So, it was fun. and relaxing. And Anne Marie and I got to discuss something very exciting that is coming up at the end of August...our trip to New Orleans. And do you know why we are going to New Orleans?
American Idol, baby.
That's right. American Idol increased their age limit to 28 this year. I was so sad last year because the age cut-off was 24 and as a 26 year old, I had missed my opportunity. I then discovered that this year the age limit is new and improved, and I am eligible! Yahoo!
So, me and Anne Marie and maybe JoAnna and hopefully Jacob and whoever else are going to take a little road trip down to New Orleans so I can camp out in line and audition for American Idol. Yay.
Don't worry. I'm not pinning all my hopes and dreams on one may-not-even-get-to-audition audition in New Orleans, and I fully understand that I may not even get to sing for anyone, even if I camp out for two days and wear my cutest outfit. But damnit, we're going to try. And if I don't get to audition, at least we'll get lots of knitting time. And probably meet some interesting folks. It's fun for the whole family.
So I may be asking you for some song advice in the near future...
Carrieoke out.
Har.

Good luck with American Idol. If, uh, when all goes well, I look forward to seeing you on it next year. I think you should work your knitting somewhere into your image; instead of "Scooter Girl," this year can have "Knitter Girl." :)

Good luck with American Idol! I will be rooting for you! Hopefully you can finish your *boobholder* in time to take it to the auditions! It looks really great, btw!

Getting on AI would be so cool cause then you would come to LA for the semi-finals and we could knit and when you win the whole she-bang, I could say I knew her when. Good Luck!

Dude, if you get on AI, I will actually get cable just so I can watch with awe! MJ

Hey Carrie, congrats and good luck on your AI adventure. I saw you posted on Wendy's site about the toe-up socks...the one's I'm working on in the pic is her pattern and my first time too. It worked great and was easy to follow. I suggest you also printout her techniques page at Knitty on doing toe up socks as an extra guide. She gives you 3 ways to start, the 1st one is the one in the pattern. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter02/FEATtiptoptoes.html
Hope the schmoos are doing well; Marley gives a bark out to them.

HOLY COW, how exciting!!! AI is one of my all-time guilty pleasure shows. I admit last year I went to AI tryouts with my friend in nyc. I was 27, so at the time unable to try out... and for how long I spent there, I should have been able to! :-) good luck and have fun! one little tip - bring antibacterial gel and make sure you have friends ready to bring you supplies at all times. :-P

If you get to be my next American Idol, I will be so excited. You'll have to be knitting in all of your dramatic behind the scenes action scenes!
Your KIP photo is really cute, and very classic looking - For some odd reason it looks like it should be in a scrapbook someday with your great grandchildren saying, "see there's granny before she was famous. Aren't she and her friends so pretty?" ;-)

Oh my God I can't believe someone else mentioned Jacques-imo's! Chris is right, you absolutely MUST eat there. A bit on a spendy side, but so worth it. I still fantasize about that place. Lord, I love Nawlins. I'm so jealous. And so excited for your audition! Dude, I can't even tell you how much that would rock.

Good luck at the audition! How wonderful would it be if you become a TV star...go, Carrieoke, go!

You go hot stuff! How exciting, I never watch AI but I'll watch the show religiously if you make it.

If you have to hang out in a city for a couple of days, New Orleans is the place to do it! How far of a drive is that for you? I'm halfway tempted to drive out and meet you. :-) It's about 6 hours from me. Oh, and what a fun way to spend your lunch break!

You're such a rockstar already! Kick arse in NO! Fun knitting notes! Wish we had a knitting group for lunch...

You're already famous in Australia! :) Did you know your weblog is featured in an Australian knitting magazine called "Creative Knitting"? It's in an article about Knitting Blogs, your weblog is pictured and linked to!
Good luck in New Orleans!

oooh American Idol. You will have SO much fun! Good luck with it. We will all be living vicariously through your experience!
I also am envying your lunchtime knit dates (and Anne Marie -you look gorgeous in photos so I cant even imagine how wonderful you are in real life!)! The commute is a bit far from Australia tho! :-(

Good luck in New Orleans Carrie!! I'll be sending good Simon vibes your way...

It would be so boss if you were on American Idol. It would improve my opinion of the show more than it would improve my opinion of you--most of the time I think the judges have terrible taste, though I love Fantasia.
Too bad you'll be so close to Texas but not quite here! After you win American Idol, maybe Austin can be a stop on your tour...this is the part where I would insert a smiley face but it's just not me.

I am so ugly in pictures (because we all know I am stunning in person, whatever). Girl, when you get on American Idol the whole blogsphere is going to be cheering (and voting) for you. Woo-hoo!

I'm so proud of you for ripping out that boob holder! Yay Carrie!
Man, if you get on American Idol I will find a way to get taped episodes so I can watch it religiously.

Ooo, ooo! Make sure when in NoLA to go eat dinner at Jacque-Imo's . . . it's a bit away from the CBD and the Quarter, but is WAY worth the trip and the wait -- it's some of the best food I've ever had! Jacque is a genius with sauces, and he visits with all the patrons while they are eating. I'll try and get details if you want.
