Today was a Good Day

| I just wanted to show you my mani/pedi. And I wanted to use the phrase "mani/pedi." | |
Sometimes I feel like I'm surrounded by an evil force field that takes my (hopefully) positive attitude and turns it into negativitycoming right back at me from everyone else. Seriously, I really think that.
But sometimes, like this whole darn week, I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl in the world. The evil force field is gone this week; nothing but sunshiney happiness coming my way. And your way too, if you're reading this here blog. (At least for today! Remind of this post when my bills all come in or I get a nasty customer at Molly's....)
Anyways, today I had such a lovely lunch break. Usually I rush home, eat quickly, check the mail, pet the schmoos, and rush back. But today I had some leftovers at work, so I ate at my desk and then wandered over to the coffee shop for this and this:

Anne Marie gave me this totally awesome knitting bag for my b-day. I LOVE IT.
I just sat and knit by the window. For an hour. It was great! You can see in the picture above that this is a cool coffee shop because they have multiple editions of Scrabble, including the cool one with the turntable. They also didn't mind when I curled up on the leather couch and slept for 20 minutes after Polka Purl Dots put me to sleep. I've been working on nothing else for 3 days and this is all I have done (now, it's REALLY wide, like 234 stitches wide, but I didn't get all that in the pic):

Dang, this thing moves SLOW.
I know it's going to be really cute, but OH SO LONG TO KNIT. I'm so impatient. I need a project on size 35s with three strands of wool. Just kidding. I need patience. The Svale is gorgeous yarn, the color is marvelous, everything will be fabulous five yrs from now when I finish. Ha! But I will push forward. I must learn that slow and steady wins the race. Or, wins the pretty knitted shirt. Whatever.
Karaoke contest tonight after Molly's if I can convince my friends that it's the fun, cool thing to do. "Maybe he's no Romeo, but he's my lovin' one man show...oh, oh, oh, oh, let's hear it for the boh-oy!" Can you think of any other belty 80s songs? I sing that one like twice a week.
Have an awesome weekend. I plan to! Mwah!

That is an awesome knitting bag. Did AM tell you where she bought it?
Hope you had a fun karaoke-filled weekend.

What beauuuuuuutiful nails. I don't know if I have ever really had mani/pedi...I know, Gasp! The pink is so pretty for Polka. Be encouraged about your progress, at least you aren't attempting to knit a lace top on size 2s, and to irritated to frog back to your mistake...Sorry as you can tell it's eating me up!

Ooh your pedi looks especially great in your new shoes!

Love your mani/pedi. I'm thinking about getting a pedi, but I'm not sure yet because I'm very uncomfortable about the prospect of someone touching my feet. But I want them de-funkified! And I'm definitely getting a mani before my wedding...I've had fake nails and acrylics put on before (twice), but never a real manicure with my own natural nails...I'm looking forward!

Wow, so many great 80's suggestions..I'm at a complete loss right now though. Any of the others should suffice ;) Loved the idea for Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer... ha ha!
And I love your bag! It's too cute!

hi Carrie--as I have just begun to knit again after 35 YEARS away from it, the playfulness of your blog has encouraged me to just have fun! Thank you!
How about "Hey, Mickey?"
I grew up/went to grad school in Athens! Next time I go home, WHERE is the yarn shop?

Do they ever have any They Might Be Giants? How about "Triangle Man" or "Birdhouse in your Soul"? he he I hear ya on those small-needled projects. I'm working with some Linen Drape on US3s and it feels like it's going to take f.o.r.e.v.er.

The PPD looks sooooo cool (love the color)!
And belty 80's songs? 80's music always makes me think of Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" :-)

Dexy's Midnight Riders? C'mon Eileen? Who knew what they were saying, though. I'd just like to do it on karaoke so I'd know what the words are.
Nice knittin' bag. Looks like a great addition to your collection of knitting artifacts!

Walk Like an Egyptian.
=)
What a perfect lunch time you had!
Yay!

Wow, that sounds like the perfect lunch break!! I'm blanking on 80s song suggestions . . . but I second whoever mentioned The Pretenders -- love everything they've done.

Total Eclipse of the Heart. It doesn't get more belty than that.
Don't Stop Believing.
Seventeen. (not Winger's "She's Only Seventeen," but the Stevie Nicks classic)
Love is a Battlefield.
Brass in Pocket. Or Back on the Chain Gang.
I love vicariously karaoking through you.
PPD is looking gooood! And nice mani/pedi, too!

I'm glad you're feeling so happy, Carrie! And I feel the same way about PPD: will it ever end?

Donna Summer, anyone?
"She Works Hard for the Money" rules!
Whitney (before the unfortunate drug problems/marriage): "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", "How Will I Know?" leap to mind.
Madonna: "Material World," "Like a Prayer", "Lucky Star," (even "Like a Virgin" if you've got the nerve!)...
The Eurhytmics? (I just love Annie Lennox.)
Ah, the 80s. Sigh. Thanks for the flashback!

Love your contagious happy spirit :) Your nails are fab!
Interesting to learn you are a twin.. ID twins? I am a mom to ID 6 year old twins and since learning I was having twins (at a mere 6 weeks via ultrasound) am fascinated by them. Any twin focused blogging entries in the future would be much appreciated.. (Were you always in the same class at school? How did you feel about your twin growing up? The best and worst of being a twin.. Things your parents did to make you feel special as an individual.. Just suggestions!!)
My girls look very much alike and in general could be described as having very similar (creative) personalities. Until you get to know them.. then they both have their own distinct ways about them..
Just curious, and love the sweater you made for your sister, just perfect.

My baby, he don't talk sweet,
he ain't got much to say
But he loves me, loves me, loves me
O know that he loves me anyway
'80s music rules. I used to live in Athens too. Now I live in Atlanta. But when I lived in Athens, they used to have 80's night at 40 watt every Thursday night and we were THERE. And I was wearing silver lamee. Ruled.
Lovely coffee shop. And your mani/pedi looks great.
I've never been to Molly's - I'll have to look it up next time I'm up there.

What a perfect little spot! The knitting bag looks like it wants to come back often.

Before I nap I just had to add some 80s potentials: Fame, Flashdance, Harden my Heart, Holding out for a Hero, Bette Davis Eyes, and Self-Control. I love Karaoke!
