Happy Birthday Anne Marie!!
Today is Anne Marie's birthday! Make sure you stop by and wish her lots of happiness today. I just saw her at lunch with Leslie and AM's friend Angie and she's a smiley girl today. I think it has something to do with her evening plans...
Anywho, lots of things to talk about. First of all, I voted yesterday. Yay! I haven't used the electronic machines yet that they have in Georgia and it was weird and scary to me, even though I am a computer girl at work all day. It made me afraid for all the old folks who were coming in to vote that might not be as computer savvy. I do not have a solution for this problem, just commenting. I tried to take a picture of my "I'm a Georgia Voter" sticker but here's how it came out. Anyways, you get the idea.
So, in other recent news, I met my first friend from the blogosphere ever! Susan from berrystained came into town on Monday with her twin sister Karen and her boyfriend Steve. Steve had a show to play at Tasty World and she emailed me to let me know that they were coming into town, and of course we had to meet up.
I was a little worried about meeting a blog friend for the first time, specifically because I didn't know what she looked like, and well, what if there was nothing to say in person? But luckily, they recognized me and it wasn't even awkward in the beginning, just easygoing and fun. Susan is just as intelligent and interesting in person as she is on her blog, and Karen and Steve are intelligent and interesting as well. Karen and Susan and me talked about being twins for a long time....it's been awhile, or maybe never, since I've gotten the chance to talk about twin experiences with another set of twins. So that was cool. And, we just had a lot of fun drinking and chatting and hanging out.
Susan and Steve (here's a picture) stayed at my house and crazy Karen decided to drive back to Macon at 3AM (Karen, if you're reading this, I still can't believe you actually drove home!) They got to meet Bella and Chili, who were on their best behavior for my guests and only being partially bad by scratching me and barking every now and then.
Poor Jacob came home at 6:00 and slept through the whole thing...he never actually got to meet them! I was hoping he would, too, because on some days, I think Jacob thinks that some of the folks I correspond with from the blog world are like 50 year old creepy hairy men who are pretending to be knitters. So it would have been a good experience for Jacob to meet these three, because they were fun and nice and interesting and not at all creepy.

me and Susan at the Grit.
Yay blog friends. You guys are welcome anytime!!!
Knitting news : same old. Polka Purl Dots -- I'm up to 2.75 inches! Yahoo! Just about to start the fun part where it says, work this waist shaping, and at the same time, work the center decreases. Oh, boy. That's usually where I have to write out the rest of the pattern line by line. Tedious, but it helps me so much to be able to check stuff off. Hopefully this week I will actually make a dent in this thing.
Well, that's all for today. Oh, and send healthy vibes to Bella Schmoo - she got stung by something right by her eye and she's been feeling a little under the weather since that happened. Her little tail is drooping, even when she wags it, which is the saddest thing EVER.

Poor little sick schmoo.

Hi Carrie,
I am a friend of long-haired Dave (I'm sure he has a last name but I can never ever remember it, ever, despite the fact that I have known him for years) with whom you work at your computery job, and I was was hanging out with him at Borders knitting socks and talking about how I really wanted to start a knitting group in Athens because the sweet ladies that own the knitting group in Watkinsville where I live are sweet but boring and most likely voting for Bush. Dave then said "do you know Carrie?" and I do not. So he suggested that I contact you - because a.) you are apparently very cool and b.) you like to knit.
So - email me please! Do you have a knitting group in Athens? We need one if not.
Hope to talk to you soon - and please let me apologize for taking up so much space in the comment section, but I couldn't find an email address for you.
Thanks!!!
- Sarah B

It's so glad to see Bella got over her sting - she was such a sweetie to me when we visited.
I really did get back to Macon just fine. My eyes got a little bleary toward the end but I swear I never did get especially sleepy. And that way I got to spend a little more time with my mom on Tuesday before I had to leave for Texas.
I'm probably commenting on this entry too late for anybody else to notice (though I'd like to say it loud & publicly), but you were a great hostess. It was wonderful meeting you and the sweet schmoos even we missed our opportunity to show Jacob that Susan and I were honest-to-god 27-year-old girls.

"50 year old creepy hairy men who are pretending to be knitters" Ha ha ha! My boyfriend thinks the same thing!
Poor little doggie :(

Bella is a schmoo that I love and I wish her well.

I'm so sorry your puppy is sick. My Sadie got stung by a bee once too (I think she ate it actually), and felt awful!

Oh, please give a hug to Bella schmoo for me! Poor thing! I'm glad you had so much fun at your blogger get-together! I'm sure Carrieoke's the best Georgia tour guide!

Meeting Susan sounds like it was fabulous--and I love that picture of you two. But, that was your first in-person encounter? Really? Girl, you need to haul ass to New York. I'm sayin'.
Feel better, Bella-schmoo. That picture has such dramatic lighting that it's making me weak.

That's cool that you met Susan -- I knew she wouldn't be a hairy 50-year-old man. ;)
Poor widdle Bella!! I hope she feels better soon. A floppy tail is so, so sad.
PPD: When I got to the "at the same time" part, I wrote it all out line by line. When I finish a row, I check it off. I can't imagine trying to keep it all straight in my head!

Surely that wasn't your very first knit-blog meetup, was it? But what a good one to meet up with! Yay!

Aw, poor schmooey. My schmoo girls (Elly and Tora) asked me to send Bella get-well hugs. Elly got stung right on her eyelid a few years ago (ew ew ew), and said to tell Bella to milk it for all its worth.

Poor Bella! My dog has allergic reactions to a bunch of stuff and her sad tail sounds just like poor little Shambles and his allergies. My vet recommends Benadryl. Maybe look into that?

Poor Bella - she looks very sad.
I love the Grit. I'll have to try the place y'all went to lunch - Anne Marie mentioned cheese and got my interest piqued. (how come all my comments on your blog so far are about food? You'd think I was on a diet or something)

Thanks for the birthday wish! I feel famous now :)
I'm so glad that I could share some of my day with you.
Kiss Bella-Loo for me when you get home.

Wow- that is so generous of you to let them stay with you. Who's the sweetest blogger ever?! :)
Give poor Bella a (gentle) hug for me!

Hi there, Sad Bella. I hope she feels better soon. Have you seen the corrections for the polka purl dots? I just ran across them today and thought of you instantly. Here's where you find them:

That is SO sad that Bella got stung! I hope she feels better soon, but she looks absolutely adorable curled up. Is Chili freaked out about it? Best wishes
