Day Off

I took Thursday off for an important appointment in Atlanta (hair). My hair is very different now than it was before but I haven't been able to capture it in a great picture yet. I'm going to bank on my photographer boyfriend's abilities and bad-ass camera to make me look gorgeous...but here's a look at the color at least. It's a little blonder than before... I loved it in the salon, freaked out on the way home, and alternated between loving it and freaking out all night. I'm still on the fence, but I haven't actually taken a shower and styled it myself yet...tomorrow will be the test.

You wanna see how cute my sister looks in the sweater I knit her?

Finally, Cathy gets her birthday present!

Doesn't it look good on her? She wore it tonight to dinner with a little black tank top underneath and it looks so cute. YAY. I'm glad I went with the little brown buttons. I came over to Cat's tonight after the haircut and remembered on the way why I hated living in Atlanta: traffic was HIDEOUS. I had to go through the toll booth on 400 twice and both times I paid with pennies. Eek. Everyone drives so close together, and super fast. I'm no scaredy cat when it comes to speeding, but not when I'm in bumper to bumper traffic. I felt like the country mouse in the city.

I'm sure Athens is going to feel a little bit like that in a few weeks when all the students come back....*sigh* Not that I'm complaining since I work for the University and they pay me, but it's nice and peaceful right now. Luckily we live a little bit out in the country now so maybe I won't notice it as much. Ha.

Susan from berrystained put up a nice long post about her trip to Athens, and all the other fun places she visited recently. It was fun to read an account of Athens through a visitor's eyes...and of course, I was a part of that visit! (Hey Susan - you and Steve should definitely move here. Don't you miss the Grit already??)

Okay, time for bed. I have to get up early tomorrow to drive back to Athens...

That's an adorable cardigan in a great color you knit for your sister! No wonder she's smiling :-)

P.S. LOVE your new hair!

Hi Carrie!

I put up a new reader gallery of everyone that's knit stuff from my patterns...and I'd like to include your TDR...do you mind?

Thanks, Babe!

Love,
Stefanie.

Super cute hair, cute sister, cute sweater! Yah Carrie!

Hey Carrie!

I've posted a few times here... not religiously or anything, but I've noticed you have a fancy for dogs (what can I say, I'm observative). Anyway, I'm organizing a pet-along... where you can knit something (a sweater, a toy, whatever) for a pet. Just thought I'd invite you to join, since I know your schmoos are very dear to you. Let me know!

My god that's sexy hair! It looks absolutely fabulous!

Your new do looks fab! Really brings out your pretty eyes...

Love the sweater. And the blonde hair looks good too.

The blond looks super and the hairdo rocks! You look great Carrie! And your sister does too - awesome sweater! Jenn

Carrie, Cathy's sweater is adorable and your hair is too. It's probably not as blonde as you think - I always believe my new dos to be "platinum", and Moxie barely notices the difference. I think that you'll love it after a few days. You always need a little time to let new color wear in. Personally, I'm already crazy about it!

Carrie, I love love LOVE your hair. It took me a while to decide if I liked mine, too, though, so I know how that goes. You're gonna learn to love it! (I had a guy tell me once that the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is a couple of days.)

Hair looks great and perfect for the hot weather too. And Cathy looks fab in that great sweater you knit her. Great job and cute cut!

I love the hair!! :) It looks like it's the season for cutting it all off - I just did it to mine too. :) The sweater looks great too - I was thinking about attempting it, but I still can't decide. Since I live in the city, I can't get used to country roads - they just seem so... empty, lol. I guess it's just about what you're used to, right?

You guys couldn't be cuter. :)

Love the hair! Isn't it fun to cut your hair off every now and again?

Gorgeous gorgeous hair! I covet the blondness and the shortness - you pull it off like no other! You shouldn't have the shadow of a regret about the 'do!

I think your hair looks faboo, it's totally flattering. You should strut around like the styling chica you are. The sweater looks great, too, I'm thinking of doing something in a similar minty green.

Hey- Your hair looks so good, dahling. Lindsay did a good job. I am getting her to do mine to this month.

xoxo,
c

Your hair looks great! And the sweater is cute too.... :-)

Yes, I do miss the Grit already. AND, Steve and I are looking into getting a new place, and he keeps saying he wants more space and I keep saying I want to pay less rent and a little voice in my head keeps saying, "In Athens you could get a house for cheaper!" But for now I must deal with the reality of the Austin real estate market, and try to reproduce some Grit food at home with the cookbook I bought there.

By the way, the haircut looks really good, even though in the picture you posted it still has that "I just came from the haircut place" quality, so I bet when you've had some time to mess with it it will look even better.

I love the new hair do. LOVE IT. I cut mine all off years ago. I keep saying that I will grow it out again, just so I can pull in back in a ponytail one last time....but I doubt that day will ever come! It's just too easy to take care of when its shorter!

And I love that sweater on your sis. Seeing all of the things you have made inspire me to become a better knitter!

Cute hair, CUTE HAIR!!!!

YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS! I'm coming over to your office later today to see it in person. I think it suits your personality too. And I'm glad Cathy got to wear her birthday present. She is like the incredibuule shrinking woman...I can tell in her face that she's lost weight. She looks fabulous and happy.
Oh and I read Susan's Athens post...I forgot how weird it is to see Kudzu when you're not used to it.
See ya later!

Your hair looks AWESOME! Very cute and stylish. Wish I could make a trip to Atlanta for my hair, but that's about a 2-hour drive...oh well.

Cathy's sweater looks great on her. Nice job!

When I first got my hair highlighted and shortened (many moons ago) it took me about 2 days to get used to it...but once you do...you will love it! Easy to maintain, barrettes look adorable in shorter hair (and in long too...) but you know what I mean.

I think it looks beautiful. The style suits you.

I love that capsleeved IK design..you did a great job!...that pattern was one of my choices for Onde...love the summery green.

Not that Jacob isn't a bad-ass photographer, but you don't need his camera to make you look good, hon. I love the color, and the cut is so cute! And Cathy's tank is gorgeous.

I'm with alison. No fence. You look great, honey. Tres YOU.

Your hair looks supercute to me, so get off the fence and start loving your do! And yes, your sister does look great in her new sweater. You did a great job on the knittin'.

hi carrie!
I've been reading your blog for a good while now, but I don't *think* I've ever commented before. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and say that I think that you're awesome! funny, cute and just all-around great.
*wonders how much flattery is too much*
there's no such thing as too much flattery!
ciao,
