Weekend
What a crazy weekend! I have so many silly pictures to show and not enough time to post them all. But I'll show you a few...
On Friday, I got to leave work early so Jacob and I could go to his little cousin's 10th birthday party. I met him at the school where they were taking senior portraits, and Jacob decided that he wanted to have an impromptu photo session with the backdrops and his camera. So here are some of the results:
Cheesy Sitting Pose
Cheesy Hand Pose
Jacob's favorite - the Cheesy Attitude Pose
Jacob hooked his Canon 10D up to the lights and had a lot of fun posing me. If he had his own lights, the boy could seriously run a photography studio out of our house. His camera is so freakin' awesome, and he is awesome too.
He also took pictures on Saturday when my band played - our first gig! We played at this electronic music festival called Wired, which was part of Athfest this weekend.

we are totally rockin' out. Seriously.
That's Stuart and Mikael in the background behind the dj booth. Mikael played guitar and Stuart did all the rest of the computer, turning effects up and down, mixing, etc. I'm new to this whole electronic music thing, so I don't really know what exactly he's doing. But it sounds good. And then I sing over it all!

Whoa! Funky stage shot!
It was short and sweet and lots of fun. I can't wait until we have a bunch of songs so we can do a longer set. After we were done, we hung out at Athfest for a while, walked around and ate. We couldn't stay out too late because I had to play the piano at church on Sunday.
After church on Sunday, finally, I got a chance to knit for a while.

I needed instant gratification. Thank you, Berroco Pronto!
Thanks for all your comments about choosing a project. I decided that I needed to make Cherry Twist -- or should I call it Grape Twist? (see above) because it's a super quick knit. But I am also going to do Polka Purl Dots...I'll probably swatch for that tonight. (Sorry, Irene. Maybe next time. ) I'm a little nervous about the PPD, since several people said that pattern is confusing. But I'm going to start it anyways, and we shall see what strange twists and turns the pattern takes.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday. I'm tired but happy about my fun, fun weekend.

Yay I am so glad you get to sing with a band. I'm sure you guys rocked. Wish I could have been there...
I love your glamour shots wih the lighting and backdrop. Especially like the attitude pose.
Can't wait to see more of your new tank top! Looking good so far!

Dude, the first picture totally made me laugh. Did you feel like you were back in school? :-) By the third one, I agree, Jacob rocks in the photography realm. U look awesome.

Sounds like you had a great weekend...So exciting, your first show!! The Grape Twist looks awesome already. Hopefully yours will fit better then the one I made (it was huge). Love the cheesy photos and YOOOO-HOOOO for Target. I've got that shirt too.

The "cheesy" shots are great! You look awesome in them. Jacob must also get credit for being such a good photographer. I had no idea you're in a band. Rock on! Can't wait to see how Grape Twist turns out.

The pictures Jacob took of you are beautiful, but can I just say that whenever I was sucked having pictures taken of me, I absolutely LOATHED doing the "Cheesy Hand" pose? My father moonlighted (moonlit?) as a photographer for several years and took my graduation photos--might be worth the investment for a darkroom, if you've got the space.
And whoa chicka! Grape Twist looks really great!

Hey-- I just want to let you know there are a lot of problems with the Polka Purl Dots pattern. More problems than the one that was fixed by the erratum posted by Interweave. I have kind of been going on about it in a thread on the "pattern help" section of the Knitty coffeeshop boards. I really love the (almost) finished object but be prepared to do a lot of, shall I say, pattern interpretation!

Sorry to post this comment here, instead of in "Grump" but I've been out of town, and playing catch-up on my reading.
My response to KC's rediculous bitchings is made evident in my June 8th post entitled "Salt Peanut Revised, part Deux" on our Jenla blog. But I guess Mar is too self-absorbed to realize the subtle mocking quality of that post, or of the following posts where I've inserted as many pet pictures as I've possibly been able to.
I just think KC needs to get over herself, and grow up. But in the meantime, we've pulled her link from our site, until she can act like an adult.

Rock On Chickita! Congrats on a sucessful gig! And your man is one talented guy. I wish he did my senior potrait! Maybe he could have made me look good!
And par for the course, Grape Twist looks scrumptious.

I can't wait to see how your Grape Twist turns out; it's looking really cute!
It's funny, when I took my senior pictures, I never would have thought of them as "cheesy" poses, but looking back, I totally do. And to think I thought I was so cool back then! :)

You are looking hot in that attitude shot! Seriously. :-) I'm glad your first "gig" went well, but you look so lonely down in front all by yourself. :-)

Do you really knit in church? Isn't that some sort of sin or something? :)
I love the cheesy sitting pose, you look like a real life teenager.
As for your grape twist, looks great! That yarn is perfect for it. I think it'll be great for evening with that little balck skirt you wore to your show, which kicked ass (see my blog later today for a great pic of you).

Hey Carrie, I am new to your blog and new to knitting. I really like your gallery of projects, finished and otherwise. I also wanted to say that I saw the stuff about the knitting curmudgeon and I think she's mean. I like your blog and I like your schmoo! Also, my dictionary defines "curmudgeon" as a "crusty, ill-tempered old man". Why would anyone want to describe themselves that way, anyways? So three cheers for you.

FYI, I think there is an eratta (sp?) for Polka Purl Dots posted on the Interweave Knits website...have fun knitting it!
