Delicious.
What a fun weekend...
Oh, David Byrne. How I love thee. He is the cutest thing.
He looks so happy when he is performing, which makes ME so happy to watch him, and he dances around like a crazy man when he is singing! Oh, I love it. He had a string section with him that sounded gorgeous, and a happy percussionist, bassist and drummer that rocked. Totally. It was such a fun time. Jacob definitely has some David Byrne-esque mannerisms (especially when he's doing karaoke), which makes me think that either he's watched Stop Making Sense too many times, or I've definitely found the man of my dreams.
The only thing that marred my joy a little bit was so many people kept talking! I paid $30 for that show...that's a lot of money for me....and I certainly wanted to hear it. I think maybe some of the audience members didn't pay for their tickets or just paid $30 to have a social. Which is FINE. Just not near me, because I want to hear my baby David Byrne sing songs. (By the way, if you haven't heard his album Look in the Eyeball, you should totally check it out. Especially "Neighborhood"...that's a happy, grooving song. Yay!)
Last night Jacob and I made beignets for a snack...(well, kind of for dinner,actually)...and of course we had to have some coffee to go with them. Yum. Except that the coffee was caffeinated and I haven't had caffeine in SOOOOO long so I got SO MUCH ENERGY. SO MUCH. So I cleaned the office and set up my computer at home and set up a scanner and knitted and knitted and knitted. I worked a little on my HP scarf (and have you seen the new style? Very cool, but I haven't finished my old style one yet!! Arrgh!) and I finished a funky little scarf that I've been working on (pic tomorrow.) I also knitted a fun little wristband for myself. Wanna see?

My wristband is delicious!
I snapped that blurry picture right as the TV was flashing some crazy commercial, and I figure, hey, my wristband IS delicious! That made sense when I was high on caffeine.
I ended up starting a felted bag and knitting until 2:30 am. No more caffeine for Carrie. Period.
Oh my goodness, we watched Big Fish this weekend...I cried my face off. LOVED it. I love Albert Finney so much, probably because he's part of my childhood (Daddy Warbucks!!). This movie was so damn touching, but not cheesy, because Tim Burton made it eerie and almost a little creepy. Two thumbs up.
Okay, enough random chatter for now. Knitting projects, in order of estimated completion date: Harry Potter Scarf. Felted Bag. ??? What's next? Hmm....

What a cool photo, Carrie! Big Fish was good, wasn't it? Dave and I saw it at the movies and *he* sobbed. It was kinda cute. ;)

Hello... I've been reading your blog for a few weeks and finally decided to say hi. I love your caffeine induced wristband... and the color of the ad on the TV even kind of matches (at least on my screen.)
Anyway - just wanted to finally say hello - I love your blog and I love that you're in Athens. I'm a transplanted GA girl living in New Jersey and spent 7 years in Athens getting 2 degrees... lots of years ago when REM would play free concerts at Legion Field. (God, I feel really old right now.)
Okay... signing off before I think anymore being really old.
:)

"My wristband is delicious" makes total sense to me, too, and I've only had half my daily allotment of coffee for the day. So there.
Wow, Carrie, I'm catching up on your blog and it's been RIVETING. Heh.
So glad I've found someone else in the Wouldn't Kick Gary Oldman Out of Bed for Eating Crackers Club. Saw HP on Monday and it's excellent, but there wasn't enough Sirius for me.

You are so funny! Caffeine used to affect me like that until I had kids. Now I need a big cup every morning to survive! But I can't drink it after 3 or else I'm awake until the wee hours. I'm sorry people talked during the concert. I would have been peeved. But it's very cool that you got to see him!

Saw Big Fish on DVD a few nights ago.. very enjoyable :) You NEED to stay away from the caffinated coffee my dear.. You are SO sensitive towards it! I can drink a cup of the strong stuff and go for a nap, believe it or not. Mind you I do wish I could have a cup and be so productive as you were :)

Very cool wristband, I like it!
I finished my lace cami for the Vintage Knits-Along (finally). Let me know what you think. Vintage Knits was a great book buy for me, I think you'll like it too.

O.M.G. I totally did not place that guy (Albert Finney) as Daddy Warbucks until I read your post. I must be smart as a post. Duh! Annie was only like my favorite movie when I was little. Weird.
Big Fish was a good movie. John and I took three separate evenings to watch it, so it didn't have the "crying my face off" effect that it had on you, but I can see where you'd get that. Very touching...
If you really want a "crying my face off" movie, you should see The House of Sand and Fog. Absolutely stunning. Excellent. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed...
p.s. the wristband is delish! :)

I loved Big Fish too, but I'm a sucker for anything that has to do with storytelling.
I'll be making some wrist warmers for chilly weather, but they probably won't be as cute as yours!

Love DByrne, love the wristband and LOVED Big fish... Saw it by myself in the theatre and had to wipe my tears with the Koigu sock I was working on....

Mwaaaaaahhh!

That wrist warmer is very cool. Wish I had the panache to pull off wearing one!

Love the wristband. Did you make it with yarn from Stef? It looks like some yarn she sent me. I think it's destined to work with my leftover calmer (can it be leftover while I'm still using it? :-) the leftovers to be from Audrey) as a scarf or hat this winter.

Hi Carrie!
Glad you enjoyed David Byrne. I went to see Cirque du Soleil's show "Quidam" and it was WONDERFUL.
Anyway, on the strength of your having chosen "Licorne" for your VK top, I decided I would check it out as well; but my LYS did not have any colours that worked. I noticed in your earlier comments that you recommeded a 14.5" length and wondered if you had any further tips? For one, I assume you did not double the Licorne the way the pattern calls for the original yarn to do?
If this information is already on another page on your blog, please just let me know!
Many thanks!
