Top Down!

do you like my sweater?

Jacob takes school pictures for a living, so he posed me for this picture. I really like this sweater! The white is Bernat Cottontots, and the stripes are Cotton Fleece. I used size 8 Denise Interchangeable needles and size 5s for the ribbing. I used Stef's top down pattern and zoomed through. The nice thing about using interchangeable needles for this pattern is that you can keep trying it on without having to transfer the whole sweater to scrap yarn and then back to the needle again. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the stripes, so they are sort of random, but I think I like the way they turned out. Yay finished sweater! I'm so wearing this all summer...it's perfect for warm weather, for my business casual office, and for fun times. Yahoo. I only used a little less than 2 skeins of CottonTots for this, minus the stripes of course.

What fun! On to the next project! I'm going to be making a Bottoms Up hat just like mine for my twin sister so we can be twinsies on Memorial Day when we're hanging out at the lake. I'm also trying to find the perfect project for my new beautiful yarn..I was thinking Gigi, but it's long sleeved and it's gonna be a hot summer. So, then I thought about that pretty criss cross tank from Vogue Knitting (see Rachael's beautiful version). That's a definite maybe. Or, possibly, something from the old Interweave Knits, or maybe the new one that's about to come out....any suggestions? It's about worsted weight gauge, I believe, and a cotton/polyamide mix. Yum. Give me ideas!

After seeing Brainy Lady's beautiful feather and fan shawl, I think I want to make one of those too! I probably need a beautiful, light yarn for this, but I was just thinking cotton. I don't freakin' know. I just keep seeing all these pretty pretty patterns that I want to knit....

Now, some pictures for fun! This is what I do sometimes when I'm having a bad hair day and I'm sick of my short hair...here's a front view. It's my fun clip on ponytail! I actually have several....Just because sometimes you want long hair. Sometimes I use them in plays too, but they are mostly for fun. The other night we went to a friend's barbecue and I wore this one and a couple of friends I hadn't seen in a while said, HEY! Your hair is so long....I fooled them!
Tee hee.

Have a great Tuesday night, and don't forget to watch American Idol! It's Big Band Night!

Great sweater -- I really want to make it, too! Especially since I love the idea of being able to try it on as I go. I just looked for the pattern but couldn't find it. Did you modify one of the patterns from Glampyre Knits, or am I just not looking in the right place?

Carrie, your sweater is *adorable*!! I love it! I may have to try that top down thing myself, actually. Hmmmm.

looks great!

That's a perfect top! Amazing, Carrieoke, just amazing!

For someone that complains about not having the money to buy yarn, you sure come up with the coolest knitted tops. I say, knit that feather and fan shawl, it's hot!

You are a knitting goddess. I can't even finish a pair of gloves.... :)

I love your sweater!

Love you sweater and great blog :)
I managed to get the purling puppies logo on my site, but I guess I need a code to link it. Thanks,

That neckline is really cool! Sweater looks awesome!

Cute, cute, cute! Isn't the Cotton-Tots so soft. I did a baby blanket with it a few weeks ago and it turned out great.

Fabulous sweater! It's really nice, and it looks soooo soft!
I also love you fun clip-on faux hair... It's like magic :-)

That sweater is gorgeous. It fits you perfectly and is very flattering! Must go check out the pattern now ...

You are too cute for words little girl! Bravo!

I love the sweater...I can't believe you finished it already!
:)

yea!

Beautiful TDR!

I want a clip-on ponytail!

Ooh it looks good! I like how the stripes turned out, very fun. I like the feather and fan scarf too, go on make one if you like it!

Oh, wow. I love the sweater with its cool neckline and stripes, and you are so very adorable in those glasses and cute pose! [Applauds madly.]

Ok, that is one darn cute sweater! Did you add onto the sleeves once you were donw with the yoke, or did you just leave it? Very nice!

I LOVE your sweater. You make me feel so incompetent! I think I need to make one of those! How do you get the neck line to look the way you want?

Whoa - you totally rocked that top-down!! Are your needles still smokin??!!

!!!! how are you so fast?? i have been wrapped up with my socks so i still haven't really started on my top down but i hope to soon! i woke up this morning feeling a little off and thought for a moment "oh just call in sick and start on that top and knit all day!" but i was good and came in anyway.

Hi Carrie! The top down sweater looks terrific. Congrats! I've really been enjoying reading your knitting blog. I'm going to add a link to it on my blog page. When you have a minute, drop by and let me know what you think.

Well that was freaking fast! I'm going to make one, too. I love yours, and the blue one you made a while ago, too.

Carrie, you are too cute! Great job on the top-down summer sweater. That was fast! And I love the clip-on ponytail -- is it real hair?

Love that top! What a great fit. The sleeves are too cute. And the stripes are great. Wow, a must knit. Hope, I can get mine to fit that way. I have been meaning to try Stef's pattern.

You've inspired me to knit a top-down also. I was already admiring the blue one that you knit a while ago.

Love the sweater (and the picture)! And it knit up so fast (or maybe you are just a speed-knitter?) . . . now I'm inspired to try a top-down for summertime in a nice cool cotton yarn. It's hard to get excited about anything with wool in it in the summer.
