Knitting Night

A little peek at my honeymoon cami.

Yesterday was full of knitting fun times. My older sister Michelle came up for a visit and we visited the local yarn shop (The Cat's Meow). They are so cute over there. The owner is a young woman and she's so excited about the yarns, and knitting in general! I was wearing my Chevron Tank (see my gallery for a pic) and everyone realized that I'd knitted it and gave me so many compliments! Yay for knitters who understand what goes into knitting and finishing a top. I wanted to buy everything but I resisted temptation.... I was hoping to get the Vogue Knitting with the snazzy tank on the cover but they already had the new edition out. I might go to Barnes and Noble this afternoon and see if they have it....

The picture at the top is my honeymoon cami in progress. (Please ignore the cake plate, two glasses, and fake ponytail in the picture. I took it right after coming home from waiting tables and I was exhausted....) Here's a close-up of the very cool mirrored decreases that Julia, the designer, put in the pattern. I think this is going to be a very cute tank!! I got even more (I think I'm up to 8 inches now?) done last night since it was Knitting and Watching American Idol at La Chez Carrieoke!

Okay, I *heart* Fantasia. She is just adorable, so comfortable on stage, can sing anything. And Simon did pick a great song for her, even if he was completely smug about it. (Is he strangely attractive to anyone else? How about Stabler on Law and Order: SVU? Yum.) Diana struggled a little tonight, but in the end, she busted out "Don't Cry Out Loud" like a pro. That song might be annoying, but she rocked it. I really want a Diana - Fantasia showdown. I'm not going to make any predictions because I know I'll be wrong, but if Jasmine doesn't go home tonight, I'm gonna fight somebody. Here's us after American Idol went off and we were furiously trying to call (along with 24 million other people). See, knitting and American Idol go together like milk and cookies. Or ham and cheese. I'm hungry.

Okay. Gotta work. Must earn money. Downtown Parking called me yesterday and threatened a court summons for my arrest if I don't pay my parking tickets. Before you laugh, know that it's not just a few...it's a lot. Okay, now you can laugh. Of course I won't be laughing if I actually go to jail but I sent them a letter and some money today. I might have to start a collection for my bail if I do go. I wonder if I can bring my knitting needles in my jail cell? Just kidding people! Come on, if I don't laugh about it, I'll sit at my desk and pout al lday. Just being a ray of sunshine....or trying, at least.

hmmm..2nd season of Oz, you say?...all of Stabler? yummy! i think we know what to knit to this week since there's no AI to watch...we might drop a few stiches though! ooh ooh!

I forgot to answer your question when I left a comment last night...The play was "Three Musketeers" and opening night went splendid!

Yeah, it was definitely time for Jasmine to go. AI is getting rocked by so many "scandals" this season, huh? I do like Simon's dishy accent, myself...and I'm coveting your Honeymoon tank-in-progress! I want to make one, too!

Hey Girlie! Thanks for the plug. I love your Honeymoon - the pink is adorable. I don't like to admit that I like television, but since I already have, yes on Cowell and Stabler. Hopefully too many people won't find out! Re: parking tickets, my best friend in college (who walked me down the stairs at my wedding, so you can see him in the flesh when I eventually post pictures), got so many that it became a joke. He decided that with out-of-state plates he could park anywhere. And he did. It was awesome for a while b/c if you went out with him, you never had to circle the block looking for legal parking. Four years later, however, the city of Chicago caught up with him. He had to pay $13,000 worth of parking tickets (and that was only the settlement value!). It's been over ten years now, and he's paid off. Moral of the story is that they will find you, so pay up! (I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I don't want to see you in that orange jumpsuit even if you can sit next to Martha!). As someone who has finally dug her way out of college debt after a decade, I advise hunkering down in a big way. When I start working steadily again I'll send you yarn! xox

Stabler's the one played by Chris Meloni, right? If so, YES. And yes to Simon as well. And James Spader has always been sex on legs.

Ummm, where was I?...tank. Yes. Good. Love it.

If you can't find that issue of Vogue, let me know. I'm almost positive I could still get it at one of the yarn stores here.

due to a secret teenage love affair with a guy that looked EXACTLY like james spader i am totally obsessed with the guy (i haven't seen the practice, but in "secretary" HELLO HOTTNESS). i feel you on chris meloni and simon too though.
where is the yarn shop in athens? i don't remember there being one when i lived there, but of course i wasn't a knitter then...

I was just thinking of making the Honeymoon Tank. It looks so cute in pink...You are definately the tank queen this Spring. Oh, and about Stabler, I know what you mean...Oh Yeah!

I more of a James Spader on "The Practice" kind of girl. Simon probably has thick thighs.

Anyway, your bit about the parking tickets really made me laugh out loud, dude. The thought of you knitting in one of those orange-women's-prison jumpsuit outfits is absolutely cute as hell. :)
But in reality, I don't want you to go to jail! I will help with the bail.

Simon totally does it for me. I've always been a gonner for the obnoxious guy who so obviously has good qualities...

Sadly, I've always thought that Simon was strangely attractive in a grumpy old man sort of way. Don't tell anyone! ;)

I have no opinion on Simon Cowell, but I agree with you on Stabler. Plus, if you get disc 2 of Season 2 of Oz (I do love my Canadian version of Netflix!), you can see ALL of him!
