Hump Day

Mornin'.

Last night was knitting and watching American Idol night at the Carrieoke household. I worked on this:

Please excuse my wonky stitches.

This is my first time working with a ribbon yarn (this particular yarn, Katia Idea, is a cotton-linen-viscose mix - here's a close up of the yarn texture) and boy, mistakes show up A LOT. I wasn't sure if I was going to like how the tank looked, so I just rushed through the first few inches and you can tell. Oops. Well, maybe blocking it a little bit will help the wonkiness. The pattern is found at The Girl From Auntie, a great site by designer Jenna who designed the lovely Rogue you've seen all over Knit-Blog-Land, and lots of other patterns.

So, while knitting that, I watched Diana DeGarmo totally kick so much ass on last night's Disco American Idol. That girl can sing and she looked so comfortable on stage. The other girls better bring it or else... Latoya didn't wow me with her first song but her second one (Don't Leave Me This Way) was excellent. Fantasia was great, as always, although her second song was NOT a good choice for disco night. In fact, a lot of the songs they chose kinda sucked. (People, what about Never Can Say Goodbye, by Gloria Gaynor?) Jasmine is so gone, unless America has lost their freakin' minds. Which is not entirely impossible.

Knitting with the girls was fun. What will we do when American Idol is over?

Okay. So here's a finished Sophie bag for ya..she's kinda cute! I used the Sophie pattern from MagKnits and it's really an easy pattern. I used bulky yarn instead of worsted weight so I didn't knit as many rows as the pattern required. (I always feel like my worsted weight felted stuff is floppy and I like my bags to be solid.) I love the way the decreases give this bag a big wide bottom and a narrow top. So, yahoo for Sophie!

Waiting tables on Monday wasn't so bad. I made decent money and got back into the swing of things pretty easily. I was really, really tired on Tuesday morning but I think my body will adjust to a new work schedule. I'm glad to be back working with my friends, but geez, the customers at bars are so...drunk. Go figure. At least they usually tip me well when they're drunk.

Next day of waitressing : Friday.
Number of day until I get to go to the beach: 16.
Number of performances I have left in my play: 1.

Sweet Sophie! I just cast on for one for my momma. It's a belated B-day gift, so I hope it goes quickly. The only problem is that I only want to work on Bonne Charlotte! :)

Great Sophie! I like the tank too - the Katia Idea was calling my name from elann but I wasn't sure what to make with it or if the fabric would be really hole-y.

Sophie is nice.... I haven't knit a bag of any sort yet because I'm still going through my other projects (very. slowly.) but now I want to make one! I'll remember the bulky yarn tip.

Just looked through your 100 things: style sheets are fun! Let me know if you need help!

Awesome Sophie - you are really a speed demon on those needles!

Carrie, All of your knitting is adorable, as usual. I didn't realize that Jenna designed Rogue (even after seeing it all over) so thanks for the link -I will check out her site. Good luck on the waitressing and the last night of your play. I know you'll kick butt! xox

I like the Sophie!!! :)
