New Entry
here is a random picture of Bella to brighten your day.(click pic to enlarge) Bella likes to roll around on her back, kicking her legs in the air, ALL THE TIME. We haven't decided if her backs itches, or if she wants attention, or if maybe she's exercising. She is a schmoo.
I'm too tired to think about a title. Oh yeah! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
I stayed up late watching Capturing the Friedmans last night. Jacob wanted to see it, and then he fell asleep before it was over in true Jacob fashion. And I stayed up til 12:30 watching. But it's a really good documentary - not a feel good movie by any means - it's actually kind of sad and depressing - but it's really well done.
Okay, my big karaoke competition is THIS Friday. $1000. And here's what I think I've decided to sing:
1. Gloria (Laura Branigan) (if they don't have it, I will move to #2...)
2. Flashdance (Irene Cara) (then, if there's a tie breaker, #3!)
3. Let's Hear It for the Boy (Deniece Williams) (and finally, for my encore, haha)
4. Never Can Say Goodbye (Gloria Gaynor)
Are you dancing around yet? Realistically, I'll probably only be asked to sing one song, but I figure it can't hurt to have some back ups. I'm trying to think of this as lots of fun and NOT think about how I could REALLY use $1000 right now. It's all fun. It's all fun. So send me star vibes Friday night around 10:00 pm...by the way, do you think I should dress 80s style, or dress really nicely, (like sexy shirt and skirt)?? I can't decide.
I'm in the middle of designing and knitting a summer top for myself. So far, so good. I'm using some cotton that I had in my stash and just making it up as I go along. It's all 2 x 2 rib on size 6 needles and it's actually going really fast. I'm looking for something quick and gratifying after the years of knitting my Homespun pants. Pics soon!
Hope you're having a great day. I'm going to go surf the knit blogs.
Thanks for all the cheeriness about my fuzzy pants and jeans issues. It's nice to know that everybody feels like this from time to time. And, obviously the jeans companies are on a mission to confuse women everywhere about what size they are. So there.
Thanks for Maggie over at Click Clack for help with my stylesheet code. I've been wanting to know how to put a pretty border around my pics for a while and Maggie helped me! Thanks!!!

80s! Can we see a photo of your outfit when you finally pick one? Good luck, it will be great fun, and hope you win.

um i vote for sexy 80s style to go with sexy 80s singing. not cheeseball 80s but when has an off the shoulder bra strap showing tshirt ever been out of style or inappropriate. really now. AWESOME song choices except i can't for the life of me think of what no. 4 is. man i wish i could be there on saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with the karaoke competition! You've picked some good songs there.
P.S. When I was in college I once sang "You Spin Me Round" in a karaoke contest and even danced like Pete Burns, the lead singer of the group. Ack! I cringe at the memory. But I won!

good luck carrie! do you do karaoke at fox'z (or however it's spelled!)? i used to live in athens too and some of my friends loved going to karaoke there. oh how i miss my ramshackle bungalow on boulevard.

I'm not sure about the 80s get-up. Remember poor Leah LaBelle and her misguided fashion choices. :) Best of luck on the competition!

your lil schmoo is just too! Yep. And I have to say, the best thing about your cute-as-heck pants is you can wear a knitting top AND bottom, and say that you made the whole dang outfit. That ROCKS.

Um - thanks for giving me nightmares! :) That picture of your (really cute) dog makes him look like he is stuck to the wall in some kind of possessed fit ('cause of the white eyes). It's a hysterical pic but now I am going to be picturing that when I am trying to sleep!!! LOL
Also - I am with you on the 80's clothes for the competition. And we have 2 things in common - I am also Keri and I used to be a karaoke DJ. So good luck! And I vote for Let's Hear it for the Boy. It's hard to sing so if you are good at it ROCK ON GIRL!!!

Hi Carrie....very cute blog, I am new to knitting and need HELP! What does it mean when it says "Dec Row (RS)....I know to decrease but what do they mean by saying "right side?" and another thing....what does "work 5 rows even" mean? I feel like an idiot asking this when I don't even know you...but honestly, you seem friendly enough!!! Hope to hear from you soon. I love knitting! Michele

Oh, good luck at the contest! Great song choices! Too bad you can't post sound clips to your blog; how fun would it be for the bloggers to hear you perform? :) (Or can people post sound clips?) Anyway, best of luck...update us on what you decide to wear, too (I vote for sexy clothes, too...though you do would be missing a rare opportunity to proudly wear neon and bangles in public...)

Although 80's would be cute, you might want to consider working the sexy thing. But the most important thing is to dress the way that makes you feel the most confident.
Odile does "dog crazy doggy freak out" on her back too! At first I thought she was scratching her back, then I thought it was doggy yoga, and now I just think she has fun doing it. I think it's like something to do when she's bored. She also likes to do dog crazy doggy freak out while trying to reach a toy or bone on the ground, which makes me think it's play too. Any way you look at it, it's freakin cute.
Can't wait to see pics of your summer shirt. Hopefully it will inspire me to knit something similar.
xoxoxo valerie

Good Luck Karoke-ing! It's great that you have back-ups in case other people have the same idea for songs. I think you should do 80's or at least 80's 'inspired', they seem to be everywhere now so you shouldn't have much trouble finding something... how about wearing your hand knit legwarmers?!

I was trying to figure out the photo framing too. If you wanted to share any info or tips that would be appreciated.
BTW, DH and I had a blast going through the Hill Valley Preservation Society page. Thanks!
