if sideways is cool, just call me Miles Davis
So I finished both of my sideways gloves. Would you like to see?

Ta-da!
for the glove modeled by my little hand (and excuse the shadows). I haven't added the button to the second glove yet, which is why you are only seeing one. But do you like? I like! This pattern is super easy to knit, it's all done on straight needles and knit in garter stitch. And finishing them isn't hard at all. Super quick and easy gloves! Who can beat that?
Two days until my show opens.....I'm used to rehearsing for HOURS every night when a show is close (affectionately known to us theater geeks as "hell week") but there are rotating casts for this show so I only have rehearsal one more time before I actually perform...*gulp*. Eeks. Send me fabulous vibes, please. And memory potion so I don't forget my lines.
So what's next on my knitting agenda? Gotta finish the top down. I keep knitting on it, and it keeps getting a little bit longer every time, but I just need to finish the damn thing. Why? Because I cast on for a Chickami last night, in some extra yarn that I had lying around. I've been wanting to make it for so long, and I just got the itch last night. I literally had my top down, my gloves, and my newly cast-on Chickami all in my lap last night, switching off between projects as I watched Open Range with Kevin Costner. (Which isn't a bad movie. It's actually kind of touching. I just love Annette Bening.)
*warning: random complaining*
I'm a little grumpy today because an acquaintance is upset with me and won't tell me why. I'm one of those people who wants everyone to like me...and I mean EVERYONE. Like, I want the bank teller and the cashier at Kroger and the mailman to like me. So if someone gets upset with me, I want to fix it. Now. This person just emailed me and said, 'oh, I'm upset with you, but I can't talk about it right now. It's just too hard.'What? Why'd you tell me then? I got enough stress in my life right now...Grr. So, the people-pleaser in me is running through all my interactions with this woman to try and figure out what I did wrong. And the sassy, independent woman side of me is saying, "Screw off, lady!" So I guess I need to go home and knit a lot to take my mind off a silly situation that should be unimportant but is actually kind of important in the back of my head.
*Sorry for the random personal life rambling but I had to say it all somewhere.*
Here's another picture of my dogs, just because they are so cute. And yeah, that's my bed they're on. Can you tell they run the house?

oh the gloves! I love them. They are so classy.
See you tonight at the play...you'll be the best one I know it. Oh, and who is made at you? I shall beat them up.

I love those gloves Carrie, the button finishes them off perfectly - gorgeous. And knitted on straight needles? My facourite - I don't like dpns or circs!

Those gloves are rad! I've already printed out the pattern and I'm going to try to make them this weekend. The strip and button make the glove. So fab-o. Hmmmm...but what the heck is garter stich? I am SUCH a beginner! Good thing I accidentally stole your superold knitting book when I moved to California. You remember-the one entitled K is for Knitting!
Girl, you know we love you. Don't worry about little miss "I'm kinda mad at you." Lame.

Very Jackie-O. I love them!
Break a leg! I'm sending the positive vibes out your way right now.

I love the button! Great job!

Nice gloves - the button detail is really cute.
I agree with Karen, I doubt you've done anything at all. If you have no idea what it is then it's either a misunderstanding, or she's taking stuff out on you that is nothing to do with you at all. Either way she's out of line!

That glove is GREAT! That button is a great retro look. Very Mary Tyler Moore.
Screw that acquaintance. Why in the world would she write to you and ANNOUNCE to you that she's mad without saying why? Sheesh. Ignore her until she gets herself unbent out of shape and decides to tell you why. If she doesn't, don't let it upset you. Knit on! We love you! And break a leg in your show! (Not for real, but you know what I mean :-).)

Strangest thing happened tonight. One of the my mom's friends brought up a Columbia-Minerva Learn to Knit book, and in it are YOUR gloves! It was TOO weird, esp after you just posted them. They look super!
Hope you figure out why the crazy bitch is mad at you :D (And I'm the same way--everyone must like me. It dives Ryan crazy, because he's of the "FUCK 'EM ALL!" variety.)

on the one hand i say SCREW HER what is her problem. on the other hand i say i often do not feel the need to tell people i'm mad at them - they should know!!! but then again, i wouldn't write them an email saying "FYI i'm mad at you." i would just ignore them and be snippy to them and give them dirty looks until they figured it out and said 'uh oh are you mad' and then i'd be like YES I DAMN WELL AM and tell them what they did!!! :) so i say - if you can't figure it out - it is something obscure and retarded and she is a loser not worth worrying why she's mad. so there, that is my answer! mua ha ha ha ha

Hey Carrie! Love the gloves - passed the pattern on to one of my new knitters!!! Good vibes coming your way for the play - I hope to get to see it in April - a little too under the weather right now to come up this weekend :(
Sorry about the extra stress - it is hard to balance the 'what did I do?' with the 'I can't worry about this now' - take care and keep knitting that will help for sure!!!

Oh Carrie, you're so silly! How could ANYONE be upset with you?????????
Sounds like that lady is having a "personal" bad day and is trying to take it out on someone nice. Everyone has bad days, andy they need to learn to cope with it and not take it out on other people. More than likely, she's making something bigger out of it, than it actually is. Don't feel bad, we're all out here for you Carrie.
A rule to remember: When you're mad, KNIT, KNIT,KNIT AWAY.
You're pups are SOOOOO CUTE.
Have a GREAT day chickie, and good luck with your show.
Hmm, I wonder if I hinted for some gloves, would anyone listen? :->

You schmoos are so cute. Every morning TBone hides in our bed under the covers hoping we'll forget he's there (he spends his days in the bathroom because he like to bark when out in the apt). There's a Strengths Inventory put out by gallup and in it I'm a WOO which stands for winning others over. You would be one, too, I'm sure. I'm constantly working on finding a balance between the people pleaser and independent sides. :-)
