South Dakota..here I come...

So my first week at my new job has ended. It was great. The poeple are laid back, hard workers and everyone is excited that I am here. I have decided (after reading the account at Dooce.com of someone losing their job due to work talk on a blog!) that I probably won't talk about work too much. Although, I honestly have nothing bad to say about my first week here. But it is just the first week....

I have lots of fun things to tell you about my week that I've been forgetting. First of all, I received a glorious congrats on my job gift from Becky at fluffa... can you say yummy metallic Phildar yarn in pink? Woo-hoo! This yarn is used in Becky's pattern Peppermint Twist that you can find in the Stitch N Bitch book, but it looks just about right for some fabulous arm bands too. Thanks Becky! I love getting mail, especially fabby fiber from a faraway friend. (like my alliteration?)

Also, I was cast in a play this week...it's a musical called I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change! It is funny and intelligent and crazy and I am so excited about it. The show is all about relationships and dating, and there are only 4 people in the show -- 2 women, 2 men, which means lots of stage time, lots of acting and costume changes, and lots of singing! I am totally excited about this show. The thing is, even though I would totally do this show for free....they are paying me! Granted, it's not much...but I can still call myself a professional actor, right? hee hee.

Anyways, the show is in February, so if any of you are planning a trip to Georgia, make sure you plan it in early Feb so you can see my show. Just kidding. sort of.

In knitting news, I have pretty much doubled my stash this week in preparation for the holiday knitting extravaganza. (I know, I know...I shouldn't knit for everyone, it's a cop out, they won't appreciate it.) Well, my family will, darn it! And if they don't, I will keep all the fabby presents for myself! This is the first Christmas that I've been a knitter at all and I will make beautiful, useful presents for my family and friends. Try and stop me! ( I was reading Knitting Curmudgeon today so I'm a little defensive. )

And, I am leaving Monday for my trip to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. Just in case you forgot, this
is what I look like with a shotgun in my hand....wish me luck as I hike through the snow (is it snowing? I don't know!) and hunt my Thanksgiving dinner. I'm sure I will have many pictures and stories to tell when I come back....so don't forget me and have fun eating turkey on Thanksgiving!

Mwah! I kiss you all!

oh yeah, and if you still have it could you tell me where to find the pattern for the hand mitts? I think I might knit them for my sister for christmas. thanks

I thought about you today...I saw a little Bella dog with a Chili tail! long and curly.
hope you're having (had) fun in the south dakota!
love, valerie

Congratulations on getting a role in that play!!! You *can* officially call yourself a "professional actor". I'm very proud of you.

P.S. I'm so glad you like the Sunset! I love that yarn. You can use it on its own - doubled or tripled - or as a carry along with another yarn to create a "sparkly" effect. Have fun with it :-)

XOXO - Becky

you rock on w/ your bad xmas-knittin self.

Carrie, have fun on your trip! I hope you get to hang out with Jen and Amanda a bit. Can't wait to hear about all of the fun you had. Congrats on being in the play! You will be so great in it! I bet you are going to have so much fun. You had such a good week with liking your new job, getting to on a little trip, and getting yourself in a play! Stay safe! XXOO

I just wanted to say hi, since I was reading your blog. Your personality really does come out strong in casual writing like that. You might consider making that profitable. I think you could come up with a very strong voice for something or another (consider Brigette Jones' Diary).
I'm sorry I didn't get to hang out any more last week. I didn't hang out with anyone at all. But I'm glad I got to see you a few times. Please tell Jacob I'm sorry. I miss him.
Well I need to kick ass today, so I'm gonna go. I need to find us a new place to live by Jan. 1st, on top of a bunch of other things. The blog IS fun. Oh, and I saw the pic of you with shotgun. VERY intimidating...

Love you!

Hey Miss Carrie! Let me introduce myself first - My name is Kathy Cook and I work at Centennial with your wonderful sister, Cathy. (I feel like I know you since I know Cathy as I am sure you have been told many times before!!) I am a knitter and she told me about your blog. I have had such fun reading it. I am so impressed with the number of things you have finished in such a short amount of time!! My 'to do' knitting projects are piled almost as high as my 'to read' books!! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you have inspired me to try to start a knitting group at school after the holidays - I have sent for the Stitch N Bitch book and hope to help some new knitters get started. I think I have even convinced Cathy to try again!! Thanks for the fun blog - hope you have/had a good trip - congrats on the new job - and Cathy and I are planning to come see you in the play!! Take care! Kathy Cook
