back to work.

...i hate the first couple of days after you get back from a long weekend...everything seems slower and harder to do!

for example - i felt like i was getting some great knitting done at the beach. then i come back - and my baby blanket feels like it is moving S O O O S L O W. aarrgh. i think i need to knit something in a big old chunky yarn with some big old fatty needles for some instant gratification.

i did, however, finish my cabled swatch for my knitting group's crazy quilt. would you like to see it? okay!

i added a little white border to make the swatch the correct size. and the cable in the middle is a saxon braid cable (?) and it was big fun. i think i'm going to put cables on everything now.

here is what i learned just from knitting a 8x8 swatch with cheap acrylic yarn:
*if you don't pick up enough stitches when adding a border, your square becomes less square -like and more like a parallelogram.
*cheap acrylic yarn dries really fast. and you can't really block it.
*i love my Joanne needles.

in other crafty news, i have a sewing machine sitting in my office at home that is crying to be set up. it's an older machine, and i am NOT experience with sewing machines. but i am determined to set it up and use it (and this blanket really makes me want to hurry up and do it! link courtesy of becky at fluffa! she's always got a fabby link (or twelve) on her site!!)

i love your cleo shirt -- i think i'm out of the loop though. where did you get the pattern? i would love to make one for me ;)

back to work,

jodi!

Your site is cool. For a beginning knitter your are incredibly prolific and your work looks really good! Bravo!

I made a denim quilt for my boyfriend for his graduation. Turned out very cool....if I think of it, sometime, I'll make him drag it out and take a pic for ya.

You have a SEWING MACHINE. Suffering a small bout of envy here :-)
